After being acquired by Silicon Motion, FCI became part of its mobile communications product line. Founded in 1988 by Framatome, FCI initially started as a diversified business venture outside the nuclear energy sector. Following more than 20 acquisitions over two decades, FCI has grown into one of the largest connector manufacturers. In 2005, FCI was acquired by Bain Capital—a private equity investment firm with extensive experience investing in nearly 75 industrial sectors and technology companies worldwide, including those in the automotive and telecommunications components industries. This wealth of experience has made Bain an invaluable partner for FCI in terms of financial strength, international operations, and business development. Key product lines include: mobile TV ICs, CDMA RF ICs, and single-chip electronic toll collection systems.
